What’s a Lion?

The Glen Ellyn Lions serve our community in a number of different ways.

In addition to raising money for vision, hearing, and hunger initiatives, we volunteer and give our time to projects and events important to our local community.

We also listen to our members to see what drives them and what causes they are passionate about. This guides us in which organizations we support both with volunteering and fundraising.

Each year, we participate in a number of events and projects, including:

  • Popcorn Sales Fundraiser - various times

  • District Bowling Fundraiser

  • Spaghetti / Pasta Dinner Fundraiser

  • Recycling Day Extravaganza - April

  • Club Steak Fry - June

  • Busy Bee / GELC Car Show - June

  • Glen Ellyn Festival of the Arts - 4th weekend in August

  • Candy Day Fundraiser - October

  • Holiday Party - December

  • Community Food Drives - various times

  • Hearing Screenings - various times

Where there's a need, there's a Lion:

“You can’t get very far until you start doing something for somebody else.”

— Melvin Jones

Examples of who we help:

Last year we provided eye exams and glasses to 34 community members in need and over $8,000 in community grants. Since 2003 we have distributed over $320,000 through our Foundation

We are always open to new ideas and new organizations that need help from volunteers. Do you have any ideas for great community projects, volunteering projects, or fundraisers? Send us an email: info@glenellynlions.org and we will happily follow up!
